Children with dysfunctional pencil grips, producing deep grooves pressed on paper, contorted postures while writing and desperate faces with tears of frustration welling in their eyes are victims of poor visual processing. They are simply not able to process the visual information on a page.
It is important to take these children to a developmental optometrist or a vision therapist. Training the visual skills like convergence, eye teaming, peripheral vision, depth perception, eye tracking, fixation, focus change, binocular fusion can give meaning to what these kids and adults hear and see.
Vision therapy is an integral part of sorting the dysfunctions and mayhem in the lives of dysgraphic people.
